THE TURBULENCE OF URBAN FABRIC: STRING THEORY‟S CONCEPT OF SPATIAL SELF – ORGANIZATION AS A METHOD TO APPROACH URBAN ARTIFACTS
Abstract
This research develops an interdisciplinary approach towards the “chaotic”
processes in the urban environment using the concept of self-organization of string theory, a
branch of modern theoretical physics. The analysis adopts the conceptual frames of the space-time
model in string theory as a mechanism to understand the relationship among urban units and urban
activities.
